Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, CFP®, a leading national advocate for financial literacy, is a member of the Charles Schwab Corporation Board. She joined the Schwab Board in October 2022 and serves on the Board's Risk Committee.

Schwab-Pomerantz retired from her role as managing director at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., and as chair of the Charles Schwab Foundation and Schwab Charitable boards in June 2023 in order to focus on her Corporate Board position and is no longer an employee of Schwab.

Schwab-Pomerantz originally joined the firm in 1983 and began her tenure in client-facing and product roles. She devoted her career to helping men and women from all walks of life achieve financial security. While at the firm, she oversaw Schwab's corporate philanthropy and employee volunteer programs, which aim to strengthen the communities where Schwab operates.

Under her leadership, Charles Schwab Foundation made important strides in promoting financial literacy. Through its national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Foundation created Money Matters: Make It Count, a best-in-class financial education program that has been completed by nearly one million teens nationwide. With AARP Foundation, Charles Schwab Foundation developed a program to improve financial outcomes for low- and moderate-income seniors. She also served two White House administrations, under Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, advising on financial capability policy.

She is a renowned advocate for financial literacy and a personal finance expert. She is also an author, best known for her Ask Carrie column, which she wrote for 19 years prior to her departure from Schwab. Her latest book, The Charles Schwab Guide to Finances after Fifty (Crown Business, 2014), was described by The New York Times as "overwhelmingly appealing" and one of the top three books on long-term investing. With her father, Charles R. Schwab, she co-authored It Pays to Talk: How to Have the Essential Conversations with Your Family about Money and Investing (Crown Business: 2002). While Carrie no longer publishes new content on Schwab.com, many of her past columns remain relevant and timely today and continue to appear on this site. Schwab is also publishing new personal finance content via a bi-weekly column called Money Talk, authored by a rotating group of certified financial experts to help readers move their financial lives forward.
